The Blue Mystery
I feel colours do play an eminent role in our lives whether it comes to choosing dresses in a shop, whitewashing of house, designing website and logo for brand, traffic light indications, painting, photography, textiles or buying a bouquet for your girlfriend!
Have you seen the 5 year old fighting for blue geometry box over a yellow one or your little doll refusing for a red piggy pouch for a pink one?
In short, colours appeal to our eyes and give different effects and feelings. The choice varies with occasion, purpose and mood. For example, pink for girl, red for married women, white for widow (and black for wamp!!! Just kidding).
Likewise, white for peace, red for danger, green for abundance and black for strength.
Infact, the colours in our national flag have been chosen so as to indicate their specific meanings which are strength and courage through saffron; peace and truth through white and blue in the middle and growth and abundance through green.
As many as the moods and emotions, there are ‘n’ number of colours and hues provided by the rich spectrum of light. But have you ever thought about that one colour we find in abundance everywhere around us all the time?
Well, answers many vary with observation but particularly one colour came to my mind as my eyes fell upon a gym named ‘Royal Blue‘ along the roadside in the city of New Delhi.
I stepped inside and checked out for myself that it was not just for namesake, but the entire place had a theme of blue encompassing the walls, the curtains and equipments.
“Working out is about boosting your strength, no matter what age and gender and when it came to the interior, the first thing which instantly clicked to me for that motto was blue,” was the reply of the trainer as I enquired him about the choice.
Now from here, another question that comes into picture is why do most of the men’s inclination is towards blue?
I mean can you imagine a man who says no to a blue shirt, or T-shirt or business suit? Or picks a red smartphone over a blue one?
Well, there is something about the frequency of color which gives a unique effect to our eyes. For example, red, orange, yellow are known as warm colors which arouse the viewer while blue, which is the most vital of cool colors relaxes the eyes. Besides, it symbolizes loyalty, intelligence, stability and strength.
It is popular in interior design (looks classy with gray) and fashion. Even the word is included in major variety of brands indicating the above mentioned meanings…
‘Bluefly’ for instance is the name of an e-commerce website.
‘Bluewolf’ is a global business consulting firm. ‘Bluehost’ is the web hosting service and ‘Bluewhale’, the scandalous suicide game are the top examples. I hope everyone is aware with ‘Bluedart’, the widespread courier service.
A blue flavour of Pepsi was launched in 2002 under the name ‘Pepsiblue’. And how can we forget Akshay Kumar’s action movie – blue.
In all, blue is a universal color cherished by everyone across all countries. Perhaps, the inspiration comes from the nature. The colour of the sky is different shades of blue, the oceans which constitute 71% of earth surface scatter blue light. And yes, the rivers and all other water bodies exude similar hues.
So the colour has mysterious abundance and appeal about it. Think about it !
