Smoke
It pervaded around in white space,
Looping in the air at gradual pace.
The gray haze stood like a devil head,
Restraining the vision of what lay ahead.
It takes all in me to breathe
as time turns it into denser sheath
Still, I sit still
Vowing to surmount the difficult hill
No, I can’t hold the time nor rush
What lays ahead is the sound of hush
So I breathed through the choking cloud
Just to know what is it about
A whiff of rose
Did it carry a lover’s message?
Or it did arise from sacred incense
Which sent me slowly to a trance
A tinch of sandalwood
Did it rise from the ashes of the dead?
Or it was the forest burning in fire
After it gave in to the mire
The smoke had engulfed me all
Its elements didn’t belong to me though
They were of love, grief, beginning and end
Which superseded my own to lend.
A gust of wind soon came on way
Nothing else but the smoke was taken away
While I was left, smeared with the many gifted scents,
The smoke be now carrying but my evidence.
