Slowly, I was growing
Slowly, I was growing,
since the day I was born.
Nurtured me, the mellow hands of a fairy.
Without her, I was so forlorn.
Slowly, I was growing,
in her lap under the soothing fan.
But she left in the morning for office,
“Don’t go”, behind her I ran.
Slowly, I was growing,
under the protective shade of a tree.
‘He’ was strong, and protective,
From all the dangers, I was free.
Slowly, I was growing,
learning about this world.
The school taught academics,
while people taught emotions that swirled.
Slowly, I was growing,
exploring the mysterious adulthood.
Diving deep into meaning of life uncharted,
I devoured biology, as much as I could
Slowly, I was growing,
with friends more mature.
I witnessed romance and violance
And the college memories were yet so pure.
Slowly, I was growing,
reflecting in the mirror a fair maiden.
Learning the faminine lessons,
my innocent face dazzled with the beauty laden.
Slowly, I was growing,
earning from a hectic routine.
Time for responsibilies arrived,
When mom said “you are no more a teen.”
Slowly, I was growing,
only to realise that I have grown enough.
“It’s marriage time”
came destiny’s whisper so Gruff.
The dolls are taken away,
my beautiful fairy is old and frail.
No more the protective tree is strong,
Retired from job, he is going pale.
I want my toys for some more time,
let live my childhood awhile.
Give back the beauty of my fairy,
And return the strength of the tree so dreary.
No one heard my pleading,
so just one complaint I threw.
Looking back at the day when I was born,
Oh God! I wish I never grew.
