Dear friend

Best poems on Friendship – It can be pride in having a huge bunch of friends. But I believe in having close ones even though few. This poem is entirely dedicated to one such close friend,

Dear friend,

You are like the air I breathe,

Important yet always around

So I never wondered ‘what if you weren’t there’

such as what if this air wouldn’t surround.

What if I didn’t offer to sit next to you

on my first day in the office bus.

What if the seat were not vacant.

or you had that day nothing to discuss.

We then would not know each other

And the happy laughter would never happen

We would not discover our similar tastes

And the many topics would not be thought laden.

The numbers would remain unshared

to give a ring sometimes for small trouble.

Who knew those intercom calls would turn into tea invitations

To relax our mind at the canteen table.

Badminton was mine, table tennis was yours.

We taught our respectives to each other

If this team of the duo were not formed

we would not have enjoyed the sports rather.

With whom would I sit back to back

To let the feet wet on the window shaft?

If you weren’t there, my air!

Those monsoons would be just mere chaff.

We wouldn’t reveal the confidential matters

Or walk the uncharted roads

Let alone to laugh on ourselves,

if you weren’t there for timeless abodes.

This is what would not be all

If there had not been you

But now when you are here, my air

I can breathe, under the cozy sheath that you lend.
